Bright Lights Big City teaches children about the physical and human characteristics of the United Kingdom, including a detailed exploration of the characteristics and features of the capital city, London. We learn about the Great Fire of London in history, science is all about seasons and seasonal changes and in DT we learn about mechanical parts in the topic 'Taxi!'
At our Royal Tea Party we learnt all about why the Queen has Garden Parties and who attends them. We practised curtseys and bows and made our own royal crowns. Then we played party games before having tea and cake.
We had a very special WOW moment for our current topic. The lovely ladies from Yellow Brick Road Workshops came to tell us all about the Great Fire of London. We took part in drams, sang the song 'London's Burning' and even took part in a soundscape creating the noises heard during the fire. We then continued our learning by writing the recipe used by Thomas Farrinor and following it bake cakes.
