Today Year Two visited the AlfredWainwright memorial as part of our history project on significant people in history from our locality. We followed maps and looked for landmarks and when we reached the memorial we took some time out to enjoy the fabulous scenery before doing some sketching. We all had such a wonderful time and this really helped us to understand why Alfred Wainwright spent most of his life walking and drawing the Lakeland Fells. On the way home we even got to pass the house where he was born in Audley.
OLSJ- Transition Talk - our year 5&6 pupils were treated to a talk by Our Lady & St John’s RC High School pupils. The children watched a video showing all the amazing things the school has to offer and the pupils told them all about the their experiences and the reasons that they love going to high school, in particular the food π our pupils got to ask them questions and discuss any worries, fears or apprehensions they had about moving to high school and even got to hear from ex SMSJ pupils. Thank you to OLSJ and their wonderful students for taking the time to help our pupils βοΈ

We have been lucky enough to be awarded the Bronze certificate for geography! We were recognised for the lively and effective learning in school. The moderators were impressed with the engaging and exciting displays around school, the use of mapping through orienteering and geography theme weeks that take place each year. We are very happy with our award.
