Urban Pioneers

This half term Year 3 are Urban Pioneers. We are exploring our town.

We started by having a Town Trail around Darwen Street, Fleming Square and Church Street.

There are so many lovely buildings around Blackburn both old and new.

Over the next few weeks we will be visiting the library, museum, Cathedral and the Mayor in the Town Hall..

We are also learning about Graffiti -is it art?

We hope to be working with a local artist to produce a piece of artwork. Did you know ...

the word 'graffiti' comes from the Greek ''graphein' which means 'to write'?

We visited Blackburn Cathedral

Choosing books to read at Blackburn library.

Our trail through Blackburn

Did you know that Alfred Wainwright author and illustrator lived on Audley range?

or  That Barbara Castle was responsible for us all wearing seatbelts in our cars?

Carl Fogarty is the most successful World Superbike racer of all time! Where is he from? Guess where you will see him next..

Art or graffiti, what do you think?
