    Routine of the School Day

St Mary and St Joseph's RC Primary School runs a Breakfast Club on site. This is open from 7.45am and costs £1.00 per child per day the  breakfast club provides children with a healthy breakfast and a calm and caring place to start the school day.

We have a ‘soft start’ in the morning. This means that children can enter the school 10 minutes before the official start time.

Children must be at school each morning by 8.55 a.m. Electronic registration takes place in the morning and afternoon. A member of staff is on duty from 8.45 a.m. Children are the responsibility of parents/carers before school and should not be unsupervised before this time.

The children have lunch between 12:00pm and 1:00pm the school finishes at 3.10pm

    Morning

It is very important for children to be punctual. Lateness disrupts the start of the day for your child and the other children in the class. If you arrive late to school with your child you must report to the school office where your child will be marked in and registers will be updated.

    Afternoon

If you are going to be late to pick up your child, you need to ring school and let us know. Where possible, we will keep children in the classroom with the teacher / Teaching Assistant.

On occasions, they may be taken to wait in the office.  A member of staff will ring to contact you to inform you that your child has not been collected.

If you know you are going to be late and want someone else to pick up your child, you must let the school know that you have authorised this person to pick up your child.

Regular attendance is vital and is monitored and reported on according to statutory regulations. The Department for Education has set a target of at least 96% attendance for each child and we expect every child to achieve. Attendance and attainment are directly related and therefore it is essential that children should attend school every day.
