Reading is an incredibly important part of school life. We expect children to read at home on a regular basis. Books are changed at least once a week. Please ensure that your child's reading records are updated (signed and dated).

Reading is essential for developing fluency because it helps children understand words quickly, recognise sentence structures, and build a natural flow in language. The more someone reads, the more familiar they become with vocabulary and expressions, which makes both reading and speaking smoother and more confident. Home reading is especially important because it gives learners extra practice outside the classroom, allowing them to read at their own pace and explore texts they enjoy. This regular, independent practice strengthens fluency over time and helps turn reading into a lifelong skill.
