SENDIASS - Special Educational Needs & Disability Information, Advice & Support Service
SENDIASS is committed to providing a flexible and supportive service. They provide an opportunity for all relevant people to work together to meet the special educational needs and disabilities of the individual child:
They offer free, independent advice and information for parents, children, and young people about Special Educational Needs (SEN) and how SEN rules and processes work. These rules are set out in the SEN legislation and the SEN Code of Practice 2015.
The Code says that children and young people have the right to get confidential and impartial information, advice, and support, whatever their age or level of understanding.
Many children and young people will choose to use the service with help from their parents or carers. However, they also have the right to contact and use the service on their own if they want to.
Their staff will always explain these rights clearly. They will also explain the limits of confidentiality, as keeping children and young people safe is always the most important priority.
