    • Emily Cahil from the Laudato Si Centre

      Published 12/03/25

Today we welcome Emily Cahil from the Laudato Si Centre (Salford Diocese) at Wardley Hall.  She came to our school so that our Eco-Councillors, members of the gardening club and GIFT team and Caritas Ambassadors, could share some of the fantastic work they have been doing in school to show how we care for 'Our Common Home' and God's creation, through our projects such as growing fruit and vegetables, taking part in the Super Slow Way project where we grew flax which could be made in to jeans, the wild flower trail just to name some of the things that we have been doing.  The children created an action plan with Emily for future projects and ideas.

We thank Emily and all the children and staff who work so hard to help us fulfil our mission to be stewards of God's wonderful creation.  Keep up the great work.

    • Cafod's - Art for Climate Justice

      Published 05/03/25

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that children in our Key Stage 2 art club have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to the Cafod's Art for Climate Justice competition. In November, our pupils designed thought-provoking artwork that highlighted the pressing issues of climate change and how we can all play a role in creating a more sustainable future.

The children's creativity and passion for this important cause have been rewarded, as their three remarkable sculptures have been selected to be exhibited in the Houses of Parliament in March. This prestigious opportunity will allow our young artists to showcase their talents and inspire Members of Parliament to take meaningful action in addressing the challenges of climate change.

At St Mary's St Joseph's, we believe in empowering our pupils to be agents of positive change, both within our school community and in the wider world. Our school's vision and values, which emphasise the importance of faith, service, and environmental stewardship, are clearly reflected in this remarkable achievement.

We are incredibly proud of our talented pupils and the dedication of our art club staff and pupils, who have fostered an environment where creativity, critical thinking, and a commitment to social and environmental responsibility can thrive. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and passion of our school community, and we look forward to celebrating this success with our parents, pupils, and the wider Blackburn community.

As we continue to nurture the growth and development of our pupils, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide a well-rounded education that prepares our children to be compassionate, responsible, and engaged citizens, ready to make a positive impact on the world around them.
