  Passing on the Jubilee Anchor of Hope

  Today, members of our GIFT Team together with Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Thomson went to St Antony's Primary School to take the Anchor of Hope to its next destination on its Pilgrimage journey during this Jubilee year.  

  Thank you to our GIFT team for being amazing representatives of our school and to our friends at St Antony's for being so welcoming to our staff and children.

  The Launch of the Jubilee Year

  This year is very special for the Catholic Church as we celebrate the Jubilee Year. To begin our celebrations in school, the G.I.F.T. team led the whole school worship. They did a fantastic job of letting everyone know why Catholics are celebrating the Jubilee Year, how this will be done and how we will celebrate in school. During the Jubilee, many Catholics take a pilgrimage to Rome. Here they are able to connect with God and make a renewed commitment to their faith. The theme of Jubilee 2025 is hope. Hope helps us not to give up and tells us something new and bright is coming. God gives us hope. The symbol shows a colourful image representing people from different countries in unity. The anchor symbolises God's love. There is a figure holding the cross at the front and there are rough waves underneath, symbolising the difficult times we pass through in life.

  Reconciliation Service - Advent

  Our GIFT Team led a beautiful reconciliation service as part of our preparations during Advent for Christmas.  It gave us an opportunity to come together as a community and to think about the times when we may not have always done the right things, to have the chance to say sorry and reflect on the ways that we can become closer to God.

  G.I.F.T Team at St Edwards

  Our GIFT team met with other local Catholic schools to plan and prepare prayer and liturgy for Advent which could be used in our own schools.  The children were fantastic representatives of our school.
