  • Sister Alice - Sharing the Rosary with Year 3

Sister Alice was invited in to Year 3 to talk about the Rosary.

The Rosary is a traditional prayer that helps you meditate on the life of Jesus. The word Rosary comes from Latin and means garland of roses. The roses symbolise the Blessed Virgin Mary. To pray the Rosary, you follow a set of Rosary beads.

Each bead, or sometimes the space between two beads, is a prayer. Along with those prayers you recite, you meditate on a specific incident in the Life of Jesus or Mary - these are known as the Mysteries.

The beads on the Rosary are usually in groups of 10 called a decade, with single beads in between.  The Hail Mary is usually said for each of the 10 beads.  The single bead at the beginning - an Our Father is usually said and for the single bead at the end, a Glory Be prayer is said.

The months of May and October are usually dedicated to honouring Our Lady - Mary.

We thank Sr. Alice for coming in to Year 3 to share and teach the Rosary to us.
