Mark Ten Mission
Today we were joined by Greg from The Mark 10 Mission. He led the whole school worship and class worship through his unique celebrations of the word. It was lovely to see the children taking part and sharing the scripture through reflection and coming together through prayer.
Festival of making printing
Today the children worked alongside artists from Hotbed Press to bring their designs to life though a screen printing workshop. These will be on display at this year's Festival of |Making in Blackburn town centre. This is a great event with lots of amazing things to see and do for all the family. If you get the chance please go and have a look. If you see our artwork send us a photograph on Class Dojo.
Gardeners make over Blackburn Station
We are proud to announce that our school has been chosen to design, plant and maintain some of the planters on Blackburn Station platforms. Today our gardening club and Mrs Ramsden made a start. The children had a great time digging out the weeds and planting a wide variety of plants. The planters looked beautiful once finished and can now be enjoyed by the community. Excellent work team! As part of our Laudato Si' Mission it is our privilege to continue this work.

Threaded Together Film Premiere
Today we held the premier for the Threaded Together film which was partly filmed here at St Mary and St Joseph's with some of our children taking lead roles. It was so exciting to see the scenes which were shot here put into the final production. What a wonderful film sharing the contribution of the Blackburn Community on the weaving and textiles industry.
We are also excited to share the news that the film has been nominated for an award.
Good luck to everyone involved in the making of Threaded Together. We wish you the best of luck.
May the month of Mary
May, the Month of Mary. A full month is given over to Mary and during this month we are asked to think about Mary, say special prayers to her, have May altars, and sing hymns to Mary to tell her how much we love her and to ask her to help us stay close to her son Jesus and to try to live as Jesus shows us. Today we created our altar from beautiful fresh flowers.
The Festival of Making
This year we signed up to take part in the annual Festival of Making. This is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to develop their art and design skills, work alongside professional artists and showcase their work at a National arts event. The project kicked off today with Year 5 designing logos for a print that they will make at a later date. The design brief was to inspire others.
Our Published Poets
Pupils from Year 4 entered a writing competition on the theme of Poetry. We are proud to announce that these children had their poems published in the book 'Once upon a dream'. We have a copy in our school library to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to read them. Some of the pupils enjoyed reciting their poem in assembly for the whole school to enjoy.
