Our Bear Topic Plan

Today is the day the teddy bears have their picnic!

The children had lots of fun preparing jam sandwiches and crispy cakes for our picnic.

We played lots of fun games including pin the bow tie on the teddy, pass the parcel, parachute games, scavenger hunt and finally we ended the afternoon with a story in our 4D classroom.

Thank you to all of the parents who were able to join us. We hope that you had a fantastic time.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

We have been listening to the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We enjoyed joining in with the repeated parts of the story and using a big loud voice for Daddy Bear, a medium voice for Mummy Bear and a teeny weeny voice for Baby Bear.

We have been acting out the story in our role play Bear's House.

We wrote lots of words to describe Goldilocks. We decided that she was very naughty to go into the bears house without asking and cause lots of trouble. We became police officers for the day and made WANTED posters for Goldilocks.

We had a wonderful day on World Book Day in our Bear story costumes. Thank you to our wonderful parents for all their fantastic effort!

Here we are making porridge. We had to follow the instructions in the correct order. Some of us enjoyed eating our porridge and some of us did not like it!

Why not try making porridge at home and writing your own instructions.

In maths we have been doing lots of counting using our compare bears. We have been counting sets of bears to 20 and solving problems relating to one more and one less.

Could you sing the song 'Ten in a Bed' and count one less each time? When you are out and about try to spot numbers up to 20.

Take a look at our story maps. We used these to retell the story.

The Day our Bears came to School

We have really enjoyed having our bears in our classroom.

We had a wonderful day with our bears and enjoyed building homes for them.

But when we went home just look at what our bears did...

We turned this into a crime scene and became detectives for the morning. We searched for clues to find out what the bears had been up to.

Read some of our reports

We have been painting our bears. Can you spot your bear?

We have been re telling the story in our story tray

We have been making sounds to match the story using musical instruments and materials which we put into plastic bottles. We added grass, mud, coloured water and sticks. Why not try emptying a plastic bottle and making a sound bottle at home!

We have created the scene from the story using lots of painting techniques and collage materials.

Look at us on our bear hunt!

We have been learning about programming in I.C.T. We gave the bee bot instructions to move around the Bear Hunt map.
