Safety Week

Safety Week

This week we have been learning about people who help us to stay safe and look after us. Of course we began the week by talking about one of the most important people...Our Mummy!

The Dentist

We have been finding out about how to take care of our teeth. We had a visit from our classroom friend and she showed us how to brush our teeth properly. We found out that we should brush our teeth twice a day and visit the dentist regularly.

We sorted foods into those which are kind to our teeth and those which can damage our teeth.

We did lots of counting when playing our maths game. We had to roll the dice, identify the number and add the correct number of teeth to the mouth.

We had lots of fun pretending to be dentists.

Please use your free tooth brush and tooth paste every day and every night and support your child in having healthy teeth.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Click on the link below to access the Colgate site. This contains lots of information on oral health and how to support your child to take care of the teeth and gums.

Road Safety

We found out that the lollipop person helps us to cross the road. We had a look at their uniform and lollipop stick which they use to stop traffic.

We learnt how to cross the road safely if the lollipop lady is not there. We know that we must always hold a grown ups hand.

We used the dark tent to find out what we can see in the dark. We explored how reflectors keep us safe in the dark as they help us to be seen when a light  shines on them.

We had great fun exploring light, dark and reflectors.

We made traffic light biscuits to help us to remember how to use a pelican crossing to cross a road safely.

We had lots of fun practising what we had learnt. We all managed to cross the road safely!

NSPCC  and Life boats

We would like to say thank you to the volunteers from the Life boats and NSPCC for coming along to talk to us about how they help people. They gave us lots of information which will help us to stay safe.

The Police

We were all very shocked when we arrived at school to find that Mrs Addy's chair had been stolen.  We telephoned the police and were visited by PC Mayet.

She was very helpful and asked us what had happened. PC Mayet told us how she helped people and explained how we could contact the police if we needed help.

PC Mayet showed us her uniform and how it keeps her safe. She even let us use her walkie talkie!

We had our own police station in our classroom which we used to catch the bad guys!

I wonder if you can identify any of these well known criminals!!!!!!

We have really enjoyed finding out about people who help us. We also enjoyed pretending to be some of those people too!
