Knights and Dragons

Following on from our Jack and the Beanstalk topic the children showed interest in finding out more about castles and learning about dragons!

We created our own shields and armour to become Knights!

Something very strange happened this week. We found a huge key in our classroom.  We tried to think where it had come from and who it could belong to. The next day we recieved an enormous letter from a giant who had lost his key. We decided to make maps for him so that he could find his way back to the key.

Take a look at our map skills.

Some of the children wanted to make maps outside so that the giant could see them from his castle in the clouds!

We continued our shape work finding out the names of 2D shapes and using words to describe them. Here we are using our velcro board to create shape knights and dragons.

We have been learning about capacity. We followed our spells to mix magic potions to frighten away the dragons. We had to fill a range of containers to make them full, half full and empty.

Why not try making some of your own potions in the bath and using these words to describe them.

Can you remember what ingredients we used? How did the mixture feel before we put it into the oven? How had the mixture changed when we took it out of the oven? We hope that you enjoy eating your Easter treats as much as you enjoyed making them!     Happy Easter Everyone
