Eid ul Adha

Eid Mubarak

This week we have been learning about Eid ul Adha. This is a Muslim festival which is celebrated every year and marks the end of Hajj.

We have been finding out which of our friends and teachers in our class are Muslims and learning how they will celebrate Eid.

We have been learning all about mosques.

We looked at lots of different mosques and compared how they are similar and different.  We now know that mosques have a moon,    domes,

and minarets.

We have used lots of resources to build and create our own.

If you are out and about with your child try and spot mosques in the local area. Ask if your child can name these three features of a mosque. We used our hands to draw the shapes to help us remember them. When you get home you could try and draw a mosque together.

We have been exploring mehndi patterns. Mehndi is put on to celebrate festivals including Eid ul Adha.

We are getting ready for Eid!

We have been drawing around our hands and creating our own mehndi designs.  Some us decided to create huge mehndi hands outside with chalk.

Mrs Mayet brought in her prayer mat.

She told us all about the Quran and told us that she takes off her shoes and kneels in prayer to Allah. Some of us wanted to show our friends how we pray.

We found out that the ladies wear scarves and the men wear hats when entering the mosque as a sign of respect.

We designed our own prayer mats.

Eid Mubarak to all of our families who are celebrating today. Please bring in your photographs or email to school for us to print.

What a wonderful time we had at our Eid party! Thank you to everyone who brought in food to help us with our celebrations. The food was delicious!
