Burps, bottoms and bile - Autumn 2

Firstly, we spooned some spaghetti in tomato sauce’ into a deep tray adding broken up pieces of BREAD. Using plastic spoons acting as our TEETH, we broke down the food. Water’ was added as SALIVA to break it down further.

The food would then travel down to the STOMACH where STOMACH ACID break down the food even further. To represent the acid we added ‘vinegar’ to our mushed up food.

This mixture was then poured into a pop sock resembling the INTESTINE.  The liquid was squeezed out of the sock as the remaining NUTRIENTS do out of your food.

In our body the food then travels to the LARGE INTESTINE. The energy from the food will be used up leaving WASTE which needs to be rid of in the form of POO which is stored in the RECTUM.

Finally, we cut a little hole in the sock for the POO to be squeezed out as it does through the ANUS.
