Arts Council

Welcome to the Arts Council web page. Our role is to promote the Arts throughout school and ensure that all children have a voice in relation to what Arts activities are on offer. If you would like us to put forward any ideas or feedback on Arts activities which you have taken part in please speak to your class councilor.

What a wonderful day as the SMSJ Magical Minds, Inspirational Designs team had the official opening ceremony of their 'Sky is the limit' Room.

Our school wins a £5000 make over

Last half term we put together a design team made up of our School Councillors, Arts Councillors and Gifted and Talented artists. Together they entered the 'Dulux Smarter Spaces Competition' to win a £5000 make over for one of our rooms. The team worked together to create an amazing design to transform our intervention room into a fantastic learning space.

Our design came first out of more than 100 entries. The judges awarded us highly on design, creativity and collaboration.

This half term the children will work alongside a professional design team who will transform their dream design into a reality.

A huge congratulations to these children. We are very proud of you all and cannot wait to unveil the finished product later on this year.uge congratulations to these children. We are very proud of you all and cannot wait to unveil the finished product later on this year.

Thank you to our Arts Councillors for returning completed questionnaires to Mrs Addy. The information will help us to put together a program of Arts opportunities outside of the curriculum.

To begin this half term Year 1 will have the opportunity to take part in a Thursday evening arts session. This will cover painting, collage and 3D work. Please see the Art section of our Curriculum webpage for photographs and information on this club.

Monday 19th October - Meeting Minutes

Today we discussed our role in promoting Arts activities out of curriculum hours. Each councilor will talk to their class about the Arts activities which they have taken part in and what they enjoyed about them. Cassie suggested that we invite other children to share their Arts experiences.

Each councilor has been given a questionnaire to complete with their class. This will provide us with information on the types of clubs which have been popular and which Arts activities are of interest.  The questionnaires will be analysed and results placed on this page.

As a council we will aim to provide as many opportunities as possible for each year group.
