A Child's War - Autumn 1

Year 6 have been evacuated. The children brought into school a shoe box filled with items they would take, had they been evacuated. I think you,ll agree some look pretty miserable. Look out for Sheltering during the Blitz.

Class 6 went down into the school cellar to experience what it would be like to have been in an air raid shelter during the Blitz. This was only for  minutes. They tried to imagine what the feelings would have been like for longer periods of time.

Year 6's assembly was about WW2 we tried to keep up our spirits by sing songs that would have been sung during the war.

Year 6 have been drawing maps of the UK and looking for cities which were bombed and those that were used for evacuation. Some examples are Blackburn, Liverpool, Coventry,Wetherby, Bristol, Abersoch. But which is which? Find out.

The children found out about some of the WWII leaders. Facts about them and also some of the things they said.

The leaders were, Mussolini - Italy, Stalin - Russia, Hitler - Germany, Roosevelt - America and Churchill - Great Britain.
